Alberta School of Business

A Professional Home Economist, Fern holds a Masters in Business Administration in Community Economic Development, a Bachelor of Home Economics and a Certificate in Business Studies. She is qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Brigg’s Type Indicator (MBTI) – the worlds most widely accepted method of discovering and understanding personality preference.

Fern’s multi-faceted experience and wealth of real world knowledge are incorporated into all aspects of her work. Her wide range of adult learning experience includes: a fifteen year career with the Alberta Government; a post secondary business program instructor; a popular seminar and conference speaker and a well known corporate trainer and facilitator.

On a personal note, Fern is an active volunteer serving on a variety of community and professional boards and agencies. A special volunteer highlight was sitting on the Board of Directors (Director of Culture) for both the 2016 Alberta Summer Games and the 2008 Alberta Winter Games. She has been active in her professional association including serving on the provicial executive. Fern’s lifelong interest in music and theatre includes a performance at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. A classically trained vocalist, Fern employs her extensive vocal training as a soloist and choir member. Her performance background adds a unique sparkle to her work.

Fern has been honoured as a Citizen of Distinction (Culture, 2007 and Mayor's Special Award, 2017) by the City of Leduc in recognition of her extensive community involvement. In 2021 Fern received an Alberta Human Ecology and Home Economics Association Distinguished Service Award.
