Dr. Torous obtained her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego and completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Before joining the staff at the Massachusetts General Hospital she did fellowships in Breast Pathology and in Cytopathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She is board certified in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology and holds subspecialty board certification in cytopathology.

Dr. Torous’ interests include Quality Assurance and Medical Education. She is the Program Director of the Cytopathology Fellowship as well as the Director of Quality Assurance in Cytopathology. Her research interests include all aspects of cytopathology, particularly gynecologic cytopathology and quality improvement / quality assurance in cytopathology, as well as obstetrical surgical pathology.
