Biography
Tracey A. Swartz joined the Scheller College of Business as an Assistant Professor of Marketing in June 2018. She holds a BS in Business, an MS in Marketing, an MS in Finance and an MBA from the University of South Florida (USF). Her PhD is from the University of South Carolina (USC) Darla Moore School of Business. Prior to joining the doctoral program at USC, Dr. Swartz managed the technology incubator program and State of Florida''s High Tech Corridor Matching Grants Program for USF. While at USF, Dr. Swartz served as Principal Investigator on a $1 million grant from the US Department of Commerce to foster growth of innovative technology companies in the Tampa Bay region. Dr. Swartz also has industry experience in sales, finance, and customer service.
Dr. Swartz focuses her research on understanding the influence of chief marketing officers (CMOs) on marketing and firm performance. She is also interested in the areas of product quality, word-of-mouth and social media marketing. Her research has been published in the Journal of Marketing. Dr. Swartz has received numerous awards and honors recognizing her research. Among these, her research on CMOs was selected as the Best Overall Conference Paper and best paper in the "Marketing Strategy, Innovation, and New Products" track at AMA Summer 2016. This research was also recognized with the William O. Bearden Doctoral Student Research Award at the Southeast Marketing Symposium (2016). Dr. Swartz has received funding for her research from the Center for Executive Succession at the Moore School of Business and SPARC program at USC. Additionally, her research on product quality presented at the AMA Summer 2015 conference was recognized as the best paper in the ''Business to Business and Inter-Organizational Issues in Marketing'' track. Dr. Swartz received the Charles Coker Graduate Fellowship (2017) and was selected as the AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium Fellow (2017).
Dr. Swartz has a passion for animals, and spends her spare time training her two dogs, Romeo and Rosily, and volunteering with and donating to local animal shelters.
