Courses Taught: Managers and the Legal Environment Lecturer Steven Green is Special Counsel to the California Department of Insurance representing the Insurance Commissioner in state and federal whistle blower lawsuits involving allegations of insurance fraud. . In December 2016 Green retired after a 25+ year career a Deputy Attorney General – California Department of Justice. In this capacity, his practice was entirely devoted to federal and state litigation on behalf of California’s tax, insurance and business agencies. Green has been an adjunct professor at the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management since 1998, and was lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business from 1999 through 2007. At both schools he has taught “Managers and the Legal Environment.” Green spent over five years as a Deputy District Attorney, Sacramento County. From 2000 to 2003 he held the positions of Chief Counsel and a Deputy Insurance Commissioner of the California Department of Insurance. As such, Green was responsible for directing the legal affairs of California’s insurance Commissioner, who regulates California’s $80+ billion insurance business, which is the United States’ highest market share of life, and property and casualty insurance. Green supervised a staff of 128, including 83 attorneys. Green earned his JD at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and his A.B., at the University of California, Berkeley.
