Biography

The Wharton School

Sophie Reid is a British journalist who now calls Philadelphia home. Before moving to the U.S., Sophie spent seven years working for the BBC in London and Washington. She's traveled all over America covering gun massacres in Sandy Hook and Tucson, senatorial races from Anchorage to Las Vegas, and the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Elections in Washington. Her international work has taken her to Scotland for the 2010 British General Election and to Spain to capture the Euro Crisis. Since turning freelance, Sophie has produced, reported and written for the BBC, American Public Media's Marketplace, and WHYY's Radio Times, Beyond the Ballot and The Pulse. She is also a Lecturer in Communication at The Wharton School. Before discovering her passion for news and radio, Sophie worked as a finance lawyer in the City of London. Sophie's favorite things about her adopted city include the Schuylkill Riverbanks, Reading Terminal Market, the incredible architecture, and being able to walk or bike everywhere.
