Sinan Gokkaya

Sinan Gokkaya, Ph.D., is a JPMorgan Chase Professor of Finance and Associate Professor of Finance at The College of Business, Ohio University. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance with minor in Economics from Mississippi State University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. Dr. Gokkaya has taught courses on Managerial Finance, Financial Statement Analysis and Financial Modeling, International Finance, and Financial Management.

Dr. Gokkaya is the recipient of several honors. He has received the following teaching awards: 2015-2016 College of Business Faculty Excellence in Teaching and Learning, 2014-2015 Senior Class of College of Business Faculty Recognition as well as 2016-2017, 2015-2016, 2014-2015 and 2013-2014 Finance Department Teacher of the Year by the graduating finance majors. As to research, he has received the following awards: 2016-2017 College of Business Faculty Excellence in Intellectual Contributions, 2016-2017, 2015-2016, and 2014-2015 College of Business Outstanding Scholar awards as well as 2016-2017 and 2015-2016 Ellsworth Holden Finance Faculty awards.

Prior to entering academics, Dr. Gokkaya held a project management role for a corporatization. He is currently very actively involved in investment, wealth management and financial advising products. His practitioner oriented academic research focuses on sell-side and buy-side equity analysts, asset management (buy-side funds) and investment banking divisions as well as corporate finance. Dr. Gokkaya occasionally collaborates with several leading investment professionals, research executives in bulge bracket investment banks, brokerage houses and prominent scholars on research in these areas. His papers have been published in Top 3 Elite finance and accounting journals such as The Journal of Finance and Journal of Accounting and Economics as well as distinguished finance and real estate journals including Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Real Estate Research. His work has been presented at numerous high ranked research institutions as well as governance agencies including The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (The SEC) and The Federal Reserve Bank (The Fed) in Washington, DC and featured in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, CFA Digest, and The London School of Economics Business Review.
