Biography

Dr. McSween is passionate about the transformative power of education and she has committed her career to securing capital (financial, human, and social) resources to support K-12 education in independent, parochial, and public charter schools as well as in higher education. Dr. McSween is currently serving as Chief Advancement Officer for Newark Academy. Previously, Dr. McSween worked as a senior administrator and faculty member at Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business, leveraging prior executive experience in global investment banking at Citicorp and General Electric. Dr. McSween is a leader in institutional advancement for educational institutions. She possesses a clear track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising targets and in developing/leading teams committed to high performance and continuous learning, aligned with best-in-class advancement practices. Dr. McSween consistently delivers solutions as a partner in mission, a change agent and forward thinker. She is recognized by her colleagues for a very deep, lifelong commitment to social justice, innovation, and creative entrepreneurial thinking. Dr. McSween's scholarly research focuses on strategies for the engagement of stakeholders in educational institutions so that students are the beneficiaries of the best possible outcomes. Dr. McSween's doctoral research specifically explores how stakeholders contribute to organizational effectiveness in several agencies that serve inner-city youth. Professionally, Dr. McSween also enjoys teaching, coaching, and public speaking. Outside of work, Dr. McSween actively hikes in the Hudson Valley and enjoys cooking for her family and friends.
