Biography

Pouirkèta Rita NIKIEMA is an economist and a Lecturer-Researcher at Norbert Zongo University in Burkina Faso. She teaches courses on microeconomics, agricultural policy and finance, applied microeconomics, economic policy and education, and economic demography. Previously, she was a trainee in data collection, analysis and report writing at the Ministry of National Education and Literacy.
She participated to the PhD Internship Programme at the United Nation University World Institute for Development Economic Research (UNU-WIDER) in Finland. Her research interests include economics of education, nutrition and health, human capital, gender and development, youth employment, and impact evaluation. She is an affiliate researcher with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP).
She received her Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University Cheick Anta Diop in Senegal with the Inter University Graduate program (PTCI). She also held a master’s degree in Human Resources Economics from the University of Ouaga II in Burkina Faso.
