Mathilde’s research focuses on the ownership, governance and business models of organizations that combine for-profit and non-profit goals as they serve two-sided markets. She is currently involved in projects concerning artificial intelligence, intellectual property and the governance of science.

Mathilde has completed her PhD at the Rotterdam School of Management of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Her PhD research was about divergent types of ownership, logics, coalitions that are linked to particular business model choices in a two-sided media market context. Mathilde also obtained her master’s degree in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. Subsequently, she worked as an editor and investigative journalist for several Dutch newspapers, magazines and websites. She also was a lecturer and researcher at the Journalism School of University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht.
