Biography

Masud is the University Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection at the University of Leeds. Previously, he held the position of the Director of Library and Archives at the University of York, where he oversaw all developments for the Library and Archives, and contributed to the overall governance of the Student and Academic Services Directorate. Masud has also held senior Library positions at Lancaster University and Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. A computer scientist by education, and with libraries in his DNA, Masud is passionate about digital leadership and innovation in the changing academic and research libraries environments. Masud is also the vice-chair of Research Libraries UK (RLUK). As a board member of RLUK for over two years, Masud has sponsored the Digital Shift and Digital Scholarship strands of the RLUK strategy. Masud is passionate about digital leadership and diversity and is keen on introducing new leadership models and thinking in academic and research libraries. He has a strong background in the strategic development of open digital scholarship, digital education, digital research, cultures of innovation, and holistic user-centred services.
