Lord Mawuko-Yevugah

Dr L. Mawuko-Yevugah is the Executive Director. Trained as a political scientist and development economist, he brings to this position years of experience as a researcher, policy analyst and teacher. He started his career as a political journalist with the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) newspaper before joining the Institute of Economic Affairs, Ghana, as a Program Officer and Research Assistant for the Governance Unit. He has held teaching positions at the Athabasca University in Canada and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has also held a Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences Research Fellowship at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam.

Dr. Mawuko-Yevugah has published extensively in the area of development economics, international political economy of development in Africa Ghana. His current research is at the interface of development and politics, analyzing the relationship between social and economic policy and political systems; and historical analysis of economic and social development processes in Africa and within the context of the broader global political economy.

He is also the author of a number of books including, African Time: Essays on Contemporary Politics and Governance (2013); Reinventing Development: Aid Reform and Technologies of Governance in Ghana (2014); and African Youth Cultures in a Globalized World: Challenges, Agency & Resistance (2015). He holds a BA (First Class Honors) Degree from the University of Ghana, and studied for MPhil in Development Studies as a Commonwealth Scholar at Downing College, University of Cambridge.

He earned a PhD in Political Science with specialization in International Relations and Comparative Political Economy at the University of Alberta, Canada.
