Biography

Terry College of Business

Hailing from Athens, Georgia, Lane Marie is an indie pop artist with an epic mix of dynamic vocals and an old school songwriting style. Having parents as musicians, she found musical inspiration all around her. Her mother was a classically trained pianist, and as a result Lane Marie began taking piano lessons at the tender age of 8. By the time she was twelve, her musical talents expanded as she began taking vocal lessons. Competing in singing competitions, classical festivals, as well as participating in show choirs and musical theatres, she continued to grow as a musical artist throughout her adolescence. As she matriculated to college, she studied music at the University of Georgia.

Lane Marie has traveled all around, performing with bands and in front of crowds as large as 1,000 people, but her true passions lie within songwriting. She finds inspiration from artists of the likes of Brooke Fraser, but also resonates with Maggie Rogers and Madison Cunningham. For Lane Marie, songwriting is therapy. It helps her put her emotions into words. She is a big feeler and thrives to spread an idea of hope that can reach people of all cultures, backgrounds, and musical interest because she believes “two humans can be completely different and be touched by the same composition.”
