In her role as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the Animal Care & Use Office, Kathy is responsible for:
Conducting QA visits with investigators to improve their compliance confidence; Identifying impediments to the conduct of sound research; and Serving as an advocate and educational resource for the U-M research community, with a focus on assisting researchers with their Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) applications.
Proffesional Background
Kathy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the QA Team, including 30+ years in all levels of research – postdoc, research investigator, PI, lab manager, and safety coordinator.
Prior to joining the QA Team, Kathy was the research compliance liaison for the Center for Basic and Translational Science (CBATS) in the U-M Department of Surgery, where she helped over 15 labs with safety issues and IRB, IBC, and IACUC applications.
