Joshua Nunziato

Dr. Joshua S. Nunziato is Assistant Teaching Professor in the Social Responsibility and Sustainability Division of the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado, Boulder. He teaches courses on sustainability, business ethics, and ethical leadership to EMBA, MBA, and undergraduate students. Joshua is also Campus Leader for the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at Leeds, a grant-funded project to deliver innovative, experiential education about principles-based ethics in professional decision-making.

Dr. Nunziato’s research focuses on contemplative practice as a leadership development catalyst. Joshua examines the inner logic of different practices—including compassionate mindfulness, self-reflection, philosophical conversation, memento mori, prayer, and the legal, guided use of psychedelics—to consider how they cultivate greater ecological consciousness for more sustainable business leadership. This connection is grounded in a view of sustainability as generative self-limitation. His first book—on the logic of sustainability and sacrifice in economic exchange—was published by Cambridge University Press (2019). He has also published in Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and other venues.

Joshua earned his PhD in philosophy from Villanova University. He enjoys yoga, climbing, skiing, and playing spikeball with his son.
