José Ignacio Muñoz received the BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Basque Country, Mondragón, Guipúzcoa, Spain, in 1995, the BSc. degree in Industrial Organization Engineering from the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain, in 1998 and the MSc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of País Vasco, Bilbao, Vizcaya, Spain, in 2003 and 2009, respectively.

From July 2005, Dr. Muñoz has had different full-time positions in the University of Castilla-La Mancha, being now in a tenured position (Profesor Titular de Universidad). His research interests include power systems, operations and economics, electrical vehicles and project management. He has also developed his research on economic and environmental aspects, optimal contract pricing of distributed generation in distribution networks and risk assessment of wind power generation project investments based on real options.

He reviews papers for many international conferences and journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, Energy Policy, Climate Policy, Annals of Operations Research, Engineering Management, Energy Economics, and others.

He has been working more than 12 years as Assistant, Technician, Engineer and Project Manager in several engineering firms (MCC group, Ingeteam Group, IDOM international) in Spain, and in the automotive sector (Robert Bosh GmbH) in Germany.
