Biography

IE Business School

Professor Gómez works with students, entrepreneurs, startups, and large corporations, and helps them make sense of disruptive uncertainty. He loves leading entrepreneurial leaders and their organizations to become more systematic about identifying the emerging business opportunities inherent to market ambiguity, and to use the knowledge, resources and tools available to help them grow and scale.

Jorge started his career in the year 2000, working for the Internet industry right before the peak of the dot-com bubble, building websites for most of the largest Spanish companies listed on the Ibex35 stock exchange index. Then he developed cybersecurity projects for large telecommunications multinationals such as Telefonica and Vodafone, and the leading open-source integration and consulting company. After that, he joined Pyro Studios, the company behind blockbuster game “Commandos”, and became the videogame producer for the most successful studio in Southern Europe.

Jorge started, scaled and sold three successful startups (telemedicine in 2010, industrial gas-to-diesel conversion in 2014, and inspection of airport navigational aids with AI-augmented drones in 2017). He also received 17 international innovation awards, including the Techstars pre-acceleration program, the European Space Agency (ESA) Business Incubation Center excellence award, Winner of the Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge, Winner of the Smart City & Living Accelerator program, and Award for Teaching Excellence at IE Business School. Jorge is also a veteran from AWS (Amazon Web Services), where he supported the startup ecosystem (Startups, incubators, accelerators, VCs) in Spain and Portugal.

Prof. Gómez graduated in Computer Science Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, the Global Executive MBA from IE Business School, and the Executive Education Program from Harvard Business School.
