Ike Anya is a consultant in public health medicine in Nigeria & the UK, currently supporting the NHS COVID response in Scotland. Hon. lecturer in public health at Imperial College, he teaches at Bristol University & the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. A 2007 TED Global Fellow, with Chikwe Ihekweazu, he co-founded Nigeria Health Watch, an advocacy platform, EpiAfric a public health consulting firm and TEDxEuston, which from 2009 to 2019 was the largest Africa focused TEDx.

Cofounder of the Abuja Literary Society & advisory council member of the AKO Caine Prize, he’s published in The Guardian, HuffPost, Granta, Catapult & Eclectica and in the anthology Of This Our Country. Co-editor of The Weaverbird Collection of New Nigerian Writing, he has an MA in Creative Non-Fiction from UEA. He grew up in the university town of Nsukka in South Eastern Nigeria living next door to the writer Chinua Achebe & later (in the same house as Achebe) to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
