Biography
Dr. Guo-Chang Fan is Full Professor of Pharmacology with tenure at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. His laboratory focuses on developing new gene and protein drugs to treat sepsis-, diabetes-, and infarction-induced cardiovascular injury. Notably, his research team was the first to show that miRNAs were involved in the ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced cardiovascular damage (Circulation, 2009 & 2010; J Biol Chem., 2016 & 2019). Recent years, Dr. Fan have pioneered a new research direction toward understanding the roles of exosomes and macrophages in cardiovascular pathophysiology (Diabetes, 2016; Cells, 2020; J Immunol., 2020; Shock, 2021; Molecular Therapy, 2021). Because of his outstanding achievement in the field of exosome/miRNA research, Dr. Fan was awarded “Established Investigator” by American Heart Association in 2016. Currently, Dr. Fan serves as editorial board member for multiple academic journals (i.e., Shock, Cells, Frontiers in Immunology), and grant proposal reviewer for NIH and AHA.
