Francesco is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at King's College London in the Department of Engineering from November 2019.

He is also an Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College working with Hazelab, Prof Guillermo Rein's group, and with the Turbo Group, with Dr Aaron Costall.

He is very active in student support and pastoral care at Imperial College since 2015, and was the Warden of Wilson House until January 2021. He received the inaugural Imperial College Union Student Academic Choice Award (SACA) for Student Wellbeing Champion in 2019.

His research focuses on transient heat transfer processes in electrochemical storage, vehicle waste-heat recovery, and safety hazards in low-carbon energy industries. A summary of his publications and review work can be found on his Google Scholar and Publons profiles.

He comes from Italy and studied at The University of Edinburgh (Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, MEng 2012), Caltech (Mechanical Engineering, MS 2014), and Imperial College (Mechanical Engineering, PhD 2018). He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
