Esther Maier

Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Maier received her PhD in Strategic Management from the Ivey Business School at Western University. Prior to entering academia, she enjoyed a 20-year career in accounting and corporate finance, primarily in the media and entertainment sector where she held positions ranging from VP Finance to CFO.

She has published articles in Management Accounting Research, Journal of Cultural Economy, and The International Journal of Project Management. Dr. Maier has presented papers at the European Group for Organization Studies (EGOS), the Academy of Management, and the International Process Symposium.

RESEARCH INTERESTS / ONGOING PROJECTS

My broad research interests encompass the areas of innovation and governance. The first strand of my research focuses on the coordination of creative inputs in the cultural and scientific sectors with a focus on the temporal aspects of organizing innovation. The second explores environment, social and governance (ESG) practices including the role of the media in framing corporate scandals.
