Biography

The London School of Economics and Political Science

Emilio Lastra-Gil completed a PhD in Information Systems and Innovation at the LSE within the Department of Management. He holds an MSc in Economic History (Research) from the LSE, a Diploma in English History from the University of Oxford, an MBA from the University of Bath, an MSc in Economic Management and a BSc in Accounting and Finance from the Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico.

He has more than 15 years’ practitioner experience in the ICT industry with an emphasis on economic and financial modelling for a wide range of commercial infrastructure projects in European, Latin American, Middle Eastern and African countries. In 2018 he joined RWM, a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority as a Senior Strategic Business Analyst. He is currently working on an environmental infrastructure project.

Following the completion of his PhD, Emilio spent considerable time evaluating different sectors and applying for jobs in industry, but also in academia. He can share his experience, skills and expertise in how to build a portfolio career straddling academia and business, and the difficult but not impossible transitioning process from a PhD/post-doc into business and industry roles.
