Biography
BVCA | Private Equity & Venture Capital Association
A double Olympic gold medallist, Kelly Holmes became only the second woman in history to claim the 800m and 1500m titles in the same Games. She won seven Gold, eight Silver and four Bronze medals at Olympic, Commonwealth and European levels. In 2004, BBC Sports gave her the title of Personality of the Year and European Athlete of the Year. Kelly spent nearly 10 years in the Army and was awarded an MBE for her services. After focusing on the running track full time, she has recently returned to the military as Honorary Colonel of the Royal Armoured Corps. She founded the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust for retired athletes and disadvantaged young people. Kelly was an Ambassador for London 2012, a patron of several charities, and founded a multi-million-pound programme for British women athletes. She also hosts her own mental health-themed podcast and wrote a clutch of books.
