Dr Chitat Chan is currently an associate professor at the Department of Social Work of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) (he was previously an associate professor at PolyU). He teaches narrative practice and researches the use of digital technology for psychosocial interventions. Dr Chan worked in school social work in the 1990s, in secondary school education and educational technology in the 2000s, and has been teaching in tertiary education since 2010. He received his social work degree, theatre studies diploma, and MPhil in Hong Kong; and his PhD from UCL Institute of Education. A number of Dr Chan’s research projects have been funded by the RGC of the UGC, or by large charity foundations. These projects include a digital storytelling project exploring diverse identities of Hongkongers, a civic education program developing open-mindedness and social inclusiveness, and the human libraries hub project addressing social prejudices.
