Biography

I have trained as a language teacher in Turkey and have worked in Turkey for ten years before taking on a PhD at the University of Leeds in the area of Language Teacher Education and Development. For my doctoral research I explored the experiences of teachers who transitioned from teaching young adults and adults to teaching young learners following a change in the education system in Turkey where English was integrated into the primary curriculum. After completing my PhD, I took on various research projects and teaching at the University of Manchester.

Currently, I am the Programme Director for the MA TESOL programme and I teach on the BA ELE programme. I am interested in areas such as Bilingualism/Multilingualism, Language Teacher Education and Developing Researcher Skills.
