Biography
My passions lie in teaching, research, writing and editing. My publishing experience ranges from my own academic writing (a book and journal articles) and research (a PhD in Sociology); to lifestyle, political, and youth-oriented digital and social media and magazines; and to helping others polish their work for publication.
My partner, Charl du Plessis, and I have devoted most of our time over the last few years to developing a personalised tutoring model at The Chapel Lane Academy. We are loving the teaching and mentoring of kids from a wide range of backgrounds across a wide range of subjects, either in small groups or one on one, and now (thanks to Covid-19) all in the digital space. On the side, I get great joy from working freelance on editing and proofreading projects for South African and international NGOs in fields of public health, HIV/AIDS, women rights, climate action and poverty alleviation.
For about 12 years, Charl and I ran our own publishing company doing bespoke lifestyle magazines, along with other media and communication projects.
