Biography

Kellogg School of Management

Professor Carroll is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of the Management Communication Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

As a member of the faculty, she develops curriculum and teaches in the areas of leadership, change management and organizational communication in the school's MBA, MSMS and executive education programs. As Director of the Management Communication Program, she is leading the creation of a comprehensive, differentiated communications program for Kellogg MBA students.

Professor Carroll has also served as Senior Advisor to the Dean since 2013, overseeing a broad portfolio of high priority projects including work on employee engagement, manager development and women's leadership. She is currently leading a multi-year branded environments project that is infusing the Kellogg identity and personality into the school's new 410,000 square foot Global Hub.

Professor Carroll joined Kellogg in 2010 as Chief of Staff, a role she held for three years. As Chief of Staff, she was a key member of the school's leadership team and served as the right hand to Dean Sally Blount as she undertook comprehensive organizational change and the introduction of a new strategic plan. She was instrumental in the school's administrative restructuring including the hiring of more than a dozen senior leaders. Additionally, she spearheaded the external launch of the school's strategic plan and led the reinvigoration and alignment of the school's domestic and global alumni councils.

Prior to joining Kellogg, Professor Carroll spent nearly a decade at New York University's Stern School of Business where she served on the school's senior staff as Director of Communications at the Undergraduate College and an Adjunct Professor of Management Communication. In 2010, she was awarded the school's distinguished Administrator of the Year award. Earlier in her career, she was a Product Manager for PR Newswire Association, Inc. where she specialized in developing and marketing products to investor relations professionals.

Professor Carroll serves as a member of Kellogg's Senior Academic Team, is on the executive board for IGNITE (Kellogg's resource group for women) and is the executive sponsor of KBAN (the Kellogg Black and African American Network). She is a member of the Management Communication Association and Association for Business Communication.

Professor Carroll holds a B.A. in political science from Boston College and a M.B.A. in management and marketing from New York University. Additionally, she has a certificate in executive coaching.

Professor Carroll enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, cycling and racquet sports. Above all, she loves spending time roaming around Chicago with her husband and two kids.
