Biography

UW Professional & Continuing Education

Sarah Snyder received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Akron in 2010. At Akron, she worked to develop methods to quantify the effect of short duration electrical stimulation on cells involved in wound healing. In 2013, she completed a yearlong assignment at Northeast Ohio Medical University where she studied therapeutic strategies for combating ischemic heart injury.

Sarah earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University in 2020. Her thesis work focused on repurposing the antimalarial drug quinidine into a polymer-conjugated form that is capable of reversing multidrug resistance in chemoresistant cancers. While at Cornell, she completed a two year teaching fellowship. Sarah’s postdoctoral research at UW focuses on developing new polymeric prodrugs for applications in the lung, including prophylaxis and treatment of pulmonary infectious diseases like COVID-19. At UW, she has instructed within the Department of Bioengineering.
