Samuel Ravengai is Senior Lecturer in Directing and Performance Studies and is a board member of IFTR/FIRT, where he works closely with the African-Caribbean Theatre and Performance (ACT&P) Working Group, of which he is one of the founding members. After lecturing in the Theatre Arts Department, at the University of Zimbabwe, and the University of Cape Town he joined the Wits Drama Department in January 2014. He is particularly interested in the interconnection of race, nation, empire, migration, and ethnicity with cultural production. He is subject convener of Directing and Drama and Film III. He teaches across a range of theory and professional courses with a specific focus on directing, theatre making and adaptation. He has performed nationally and internationally.
