UW Professional & Continuing Education

Roberta J. Wong received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of California School of Pharmacy in San Francisco in 1983. She completed a clinical residency and practiced at the San Francisco General Hospital Ward 86 AIDS Clinic, one of the first HIV clinics renowned for cutting-edge research and innovative treatment of AIDS in the beginning of the HIV epidemic. She created an inaugural HIV pharmacy practice that encompassed teaching, disease management and clinical research. She also worked in the biotech industry at Amgen, Abraxis BioScience and Agensys in clinical development, toxicology, project management, marketing and corporate planning. She made key contributions to two NDAs, a BLS and MAA filings; managed strategic marketing and launched an oncology product; and successfully prepared clinic and hospital sites for FDA audits. She is a fellow in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists for her pioneering work in HIV clinical research and treatment. She is also a recipient of the United States Assistant Secretary of Health Award for her innovative work in HIV.
