Rob Fowler is an expert advisor in green investments and sustainable finance. He has over 17 years of experience in this emerging sector and is seen as a global authority on key topics including green bonds, carbon markets, climate finance and sustainable development. Rob’s heritage in top-tier strategy consulting and finance provides his clients with a combination of deep insights into these new complex areas and premium-quality professional services. Rob leverages over two decades of experience with investment analysis, advice and capacity building and he offers a wide range of services to banks, fund managers, bond issuers, investors and standards organisations. Currently Rob is leading Training & Advisory with the Climate Bonds Initiative, where he works in the global debt capital markets. His role is to build the human capital required to accelerate the growth of the green bond and green loan markets on the global stage. Rob regularly holds training session for bond issuers, underwriters, arranging banks, verifiers, regulators and policy makers to educate the market and build the local communities of green bond advocates. Over the last five years Rob has played a major role in the development and roll out of the Climate Bonds Standard & Certification Scheme, the international best practice approach for labelling bonds, loans and sukuk. Rob has provided executive training and facilitation services on a wide variety of financial, commercial and technical topics. Training clients have included the International Capital Markets Association, International Finance Corporation, Sustainable Banking Network, Central American Bank for Economic Integration, Morgan Stanley, World Bank’s Partnership for Market Readiness, Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, International Emissions Trading Association, US Agency for International Development, various national governments and many major corporations. He has delivered courses on topics including green bonds, sustainable finance, climate finance, carbon accounting, carbon pricing, carbon markets, environmental verification regimes, regulatory regimes, corporate accounting of greenhouse gas emissions, and business strategy & climate change. During his professional career Rob has lived and worked in Australia, Shanghai, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Boston, Bangkok, and Borneo.
