Richard Capps

Richard obtained a law degree from Cambridge University and was called to the English Bar in 1976. Shortly thereafter he entered banking joining Chase Manhattan Bank where, for most of the 5 years service, he was a corporate relationship manager in London and New York.

For the following 6 years he moved into merchant banking in Hong Kong and Australia – firstly with Schroders and subsequently with Wardley, the investment banking subsidiary of HSBC . During this period Richard was involved with designing structures to deal with large transactions including limited recourse financing, corporate restructurings and acquisitions.

Richard then joined industry and for 6 years served as the CFO of a company with dual head offices in Los Angeles and Australia. He managed a period of exceptional growth, overseeing some 30 corporate acquisitions in the USA and Asia, followed by divestments, spin-offs and IPOs.

In the early 1990s Richard established himself as an independent consultant undertaking due diligence, including the financial modelling of client transactions. Leveraging off this experience, Richard provides training for IFF in Corporate Finance, Financial Modelling and Loan Documentation.
