Professor, Economics and Industrial Policy at Luiss Guido Carli University

Biography

Graduated in Economics at Bocconi University summa cum laude and Publication of his Thesis. V.Sc. at University of Cambridge (U.K.), where he obtains Ph.D. graduation and remains as Lecturer and Senior Researcher in a research project coordinated by that University with Harvard and Princeton (whose representative was Eric Maskin, later Nobel Prize awarded for contributions that originate from the work of that team).

Called by Guido Carli in Luiss University (later “Luiss Guido Carli”) where he has been teaching 22 years and has been President of the Rector’s Committee for starting-up of the MBA courses; founder Head of the Industrial Economics and Finance area of School of Management; Cofounder Managing Director of GRIF (Industrial and Financial Research Group, whose Cofounder President was Beniamino Andreatta); Head of the Faculty International Relations.

He is author of more than one hundred scientific publications. Deeply involved in theoretical issues, but always interested in working out applied problems, he always associates to academic work a strong professional engagement. He is strongly involved in Italian small and medium firms, as well as in some of the large groups of the last three decades (IRI (called by Romano Prodi), ENI, STET, ENEL, COMIT, Credito Italiano, FIAT, Olivetti, Pirelli, Ferfin, City Bank Group, STMicroelettronics, IBM, UBS, Dixons, UniEuro, Fastweb, Vodafone, Accenture, Smeg, BTicino, Bosch, Sharp, LG, Samsung ..).

He has been advisor in research Institutions (ENEA, CNR, Olivetti Research Centre, FIAT Research Centre, King’s College Economic Centre ..) in Institutional Authorities (Banca d’Italia, Antitrust, Consob, Confindustria ..) and in governmental Institutions (Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri, Ministero del Tesoro – where he was called in 1989 to the famous Privatization Commission that started up privatization process in Italy-, Ministero dell’Industria, Ministero per gli Affari Esteri, Ministero dell’Università, Ministero dell’Ambiente, the japanese MITI, the British Treasury).

Just to better oversee his increasing professional commitments, since 2006 he suspended his teaching activity and has been establishing his professional engagement in selected works as Industrial and Financial Consultant, in the meantime also being President and/or member in several CdA and Advisory Boards of unlisted and listed firms.
