The Bankers’ Plumber. I help leaders in banks and FinTechs master their processing; optimising control, capacity and cost.
If it exists and is not working, I analyse it, design optimised processes and guide the work to get to optimal. If there is a new product or business, I work to identify the target operating model and design the business architecture to deliver those optimal processes, the customer experience and the revenues.
I am an expert-generalist in FS matters. I understand the full front-to-back and end-to-end impact of what we do in banks. That allows me to build the best processes for my clients; ones that deliver on the three key dimensions of Operations: control, capacity and cost.
I also offer training courses; Operational Risk, Operations for IT people, Why having great processes matters.
Career Highlights Old tricks for new dogs: Those “old” skills are now applicable in the FinTech space; ensuring that new offerings have robust processes under the hood. I am an advisor to a Fintech start-up and also worked with a major global bank consortium on how to digitise central bank money in order to power institutional use of DLT and create cash-on-ledger.
Training; Contributing lecturer to Digital Payments on-line training course at CFTE - Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship, with Michael O’Loughlin. Lecturer on Operational Risk for FinanceUnlocked.
Group Functions; designing & implementing data quality assurance to ensure control over key data. Built on Hadoop / Big Data and using IBM IGC.
Intraday Liquidity Management / Cash Management: extensive work on optimisation of Intraday Liquidity Cost optimisation to meet BCBS 248 requirements, process rationalisation, Nostro Network optimisation. Latest project will achieve annual cost savings of $20mm+ in reduced liquidity buffer costs.
CLS participation: led global projects for three banks to join CLS for FX settlement. Included software selection, process re-engineering, testing and Network Management overhaul.
Transaction Banking: Responsible for product development and support for Credit Suisse’s transaction business: Payments, Custody & CLS.
