Nina Buffi

Nina Buffi holds a PhD in microsystems and microelectronics from EPFL, where she discovered her passion for combining engineering with biology. She is now Managing Director and CTO of OSPIN, a company offering custom solutions for bioprocess automation and digitization in the fields of tissue engineering, cell-therapy, and cultivated meat. OSPIN expertise encompasses bioprocessing, mechanics, hardware and software, the focus being on process control. OSPIN is developing a user-friendly programming language for scientists with the aim of democratizing bioprocessing, optimizing biological procedures, and bringing to life ideas that would be impossible to realize otherwise.

Nina has a personal interest for cultivated meat, and she was speaker at various international conferences. She was also featured among the women pioneering the cultured meat field.

Before joining OSPIN, Nina spent a few years working as a freelance journalist for Italian and Swiss-Italian newspapers and writing a novel, which hasn't been published yet.

Nina is also a high-level tennis player - In 2004 she was in the top 30 in the Swiss ranking and now she still plays team competitions.
