Biography

Nahum Biger (pronounced Bigger) is an Israeli and Canadian Professor. He is an economist who completed his doctoral dissertation at York University in Toronto, Canada. He was a faculty member at York for eleven years and served there as the Finance Area Chairman. He moved to the University of Haifa in Israel and was the founder of the Graduate School of Business at that university. In the past seven years, he served as the President of an undergraduate college – Carmel Academic Center in Haifa Israel. Professor Biger taught finance and economics at top universities in the United States (Northwestern University; University of California; Pepperdine University; Claremont Graduate School), in South Africa (University of Cape Town; University of Stellenbosch); in Paris, France; in the Netherland (Rotterdam), in Morocco (Casablanca), in Japan (Nagoya), in China (Shanghai) and in Israel. His vast international experience can significantly contribute to the students and staff of the voyage. He speaks English, Spanish and Hebrew. He strongly supports the adage: “Talking about politics to a person who did not study economics is like playing a symphony to a deaf person”. Hence, he believes that all students should study economics, and he will help every student who takes the courses Micro Economics and/or Principles of Finance a rewarding experience. Professor Biger is active in sports: skiing, field biking, fitness and swimming. Notwithstanding he will not try to cross the Pacific Ocean or the Indian Ocean by swimming.
