Dr. Mohammed Al-Waqfi is an associate professor of human resources management at the College of Business and Economics at UAE University. He holds a Master's degree in economics and a Ph.D. in human resource management from McMaster University. Dr. Al-Waqfi's areas of expertise include human resource management, cross-cultural management, labour policy in the GCC region, and Emiratization. Before joining the UAE University, he taught at McMaster University and Acadia University in Canada. Dr. Al-Waqfi worked for many years in management consulting in Canada and the GCC region. He provided consulting services for leading organizations including State Audit Institute, Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, Mubadala, Marriage Fund, Al Ain Municipality, Zayed University, and Dubai Economic Department (DED). His research interests are within the HR issues in developing economies contexts. He has several publications in refereed international journals, books and chapters in books. Moreover, he has participated as guest speaker and presenter in several international conferences and symposiums. His research has appeared in leading international journals such as: International Journal of Human Resource Management, International journal of Manpower, LAOUR: Review of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations, Canadian Public Administration, Personnel Review, and Employee Relations.
