Masanao joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Boston University in 2016 as an associate professor of practice.

Prior to joining the program, he worked on the application of statistical methods to biomedical research of aging and immunotherapy at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. His recent work is in the life sciences domain, nevertheless, he is originally from the social sciences and has diverse interest and knowledge in multiple areas of science. His expertise includes but is not limited to hierarchical modeling, missing data, multiple comparison as well as statistical computing.
