Twenty-five years management track record building brand equity-driven businesses within Fortune 100 including: First National Bank of Boston (1986-1992), Nestle (1993), RJR Nabisco (1994-1995), Bristol Meyers Squibb (1996-1998). He also advised on the brand building, managing and solving of complex marketing challenges for a host of private clients across multiple sectors from high tech, E-commerce, HBA, luxury goods, health care, energy and services.
Professional/Academic qualifications
Launched brand-driven entrepreneurial ventures for self and private clients, Conceived and built from scratch E-commerce and CPG brands. Spent 3-5 years penetrating the market, building trial, retention and profitability. Sold the ventures to public and private firms.
The professor is most proud of his top-ranked twenty-year teaching experience on four continents stimulating new generations of managers to the passion and power of both strategy and marketing among undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. Institutions include: Northeastern University, New York University as well as Bilkent University, The University of Edinburgh, Helsinki School of Economics and Stockholm School of Economics. Teaching focus is Marketing with concentration in areas of expertise and interest including: Marketing Management, Competitive Marketing Strategy, Brand Management, New Product Design & Marketing, B2B Marketing, Entrepreneurial Marketing, Sales Management, Global Brand Development & Management and Marketing Organization & Structures.
Mr. Protano received his BS in Business Administration (1985) from Northeastern University and his MBA (1994) from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. He received the Dean & Faculty Award for academic merit as well as the Sheppard Award for Outstanding Service at UVA’s Darden School.
