Márcia identifies two epiphanies in her career. The first took place in 2005, when completing her Doctorate in Cardiology and being invited to take over the Cardiology Management at Einstein, she chose to study an MBA instead of taking a natural step that would be to apply for a Post-Doctoral Program in the same specialty.

The second took place 10 years later when she was invited to manage the Health Information and Medical Practice areas of the same hospital. It was at this point that she came across the concepts of Value-BasedHealthCare and was amazed that it had taken her a decade to get in touch with this transformative strategy, since the publication of “Redefining Health Care” by Michael Porter & Elizabeth. Teisberg.

He then made the decision to dedicate his career to understanding, disseminating and implementing Value-BasedHealthCare, helping to transform the health system into a system primarily aligned with generating value for people and, consequently, for other stakeholders .

His next step was to map the organizations that stood out in the world in the area of VBHC. His training in VBHC includes courses at Harvard Business School with Professor Michael Porter , VBHC Center Europe with Professor Fred van Eenennaam , where he obtained Yellow Belt and Green Belt certifications in VBHC, The Oxford Center for Triple Value Healthcare (3V) , with Professor Sir Muir Gray and at the Value Institute for Health and Care with Professor Elisabeth Teisberg, where in addition to participating in short-term executive training courses in VBHC, he also attended the Master of Science in Health Care Transformation, Class of 2021. Participate in the VBHC Center Europe Education Program | The Decision Institute, enabled the creation of the Partnership with these organizations and the launch of the Portuguese versions of the Yellow Belt and Green Belt Certifications in VBHC.

In addition to this organizational perspective, Márcia has sought to understand the level of awareness and perspectives of different health professionals on VBHC. She has conducted a Survey on Physicians' Perspectives and is currently working on three new surveys on the perspectives of medical students, pharmacists and nurses.

He is also a member of ValueHealthLab, Research Group of CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), based at the University of Brasília, focused on improving Quality, Safety and Value in Health.
