Fordham University

Laura Specker Sullivan received a PhD in Philosophy and a graduate certificate in Japanese Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2015. Her dissertation focused on cross-cultural bioethics and informed consent in Japan and her research was funded by the Crown Prince Akihito Scholarship Foundation. From 2015-17 she was a joint postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering, University of Washington and at the National Core for Neuroethics, University of British Columbia. At the Center for Bioethics she will be conducting research on ethics, neuroscience, and culture, coordinating the Neuroethics Seminar Series, and co-teaching a neuroethics course in Spring 2018.
