UW Professional & Continuing Education

Kris Fulsaas is a freelance editor of nonfiction whose work ranges from copyediting to developmental editing to project management of award-winning photoessay books. Her clientele includes Countryman Press, University of Washington Press, Sasquatch Books, The Mountaineers Books, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine, and Northwest businesses large and small. In her 30 years in the publishing field, she has also worked as production manager for travel magazines, production editor for Alaska Northwest Books, and an editing instructor for the University of Washington's editing certificate program, Discover U, and the Editorial Freelancers Association. Kris's approach to teaching editing involves lots of hands-on practice on real-world manuscripts with plenty of specific feedback, so that students are prepared for a wide range of editing opportunities. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from The Evergreen State College and is a member of the Northwest Independent Editors Guild.
