Kirsten Corin is currently an Associate Professor and Head of Flotation Chemistry with the Centre for Minerals Research (CMR) in the Department of Chemical Engineering. She manages the Reagent Research Group (RRG) an industrially sponsored fundamental focus group which conducts research in collaboration with the foremost South African platinum group mineral (PGM) producers.
Working very closely with many of the mining industry’s top companies keeps our research focussed on what is important and relevant to them. Her research is focused on froth flotation with specialisation in the areas of water within flotation, grinding chemistry and electrochemistry of mineral systems. She was NRF Y2 rated in 2013 (2013-2018), which was upgraded to C2 in 2019 (2019-2024).
