Dr. Kay Chubbuck oversees the non-degree programs administered through Sotheby’s Institute of Art-New York, including Sotheby’s Summer Institute-Pre College, Sotheby’s Summer Institute-New York, online education, professional education, and international partnerships.

Dr. Chubbuck has over two decades of experience in educational management, university teaching, and art historical scholarship. She has held faculty appointments at Princeton University, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the University of Oxford, where she earned her doctorate on a Rhodes scholarship. She has lectured at Tate Britain, at the Freer Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, and at the Royal Geographical Society in London, among other institutions. She has served on an academic advisory panel for museum education at the Art Institute of Chicago, and on selection committees for the Rhodes scholarship.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Chubbuck served as the Lead for the Advanced Placement (AP) program in Art History at Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, New Jersey. At ETS, she worked closely with the College Board on the multimillion-dollar redesign of the AP® Art History curriculum, transforming it from a standard western survey course to a global survey covering all major areas of world art from prehistory to the present. Dr. Chubbuck additionally has a background in journalism, having worked as an international arts correspondent for Newsweek Magazine, reporting from London, Paris, and Beijing.
