I am based in: Amsterdam

In 1995, having just qualified to practice law in the UK, I answered an innocuous advert in a legal weekly and found myself heading to Rwanda with the UN one year after the genocide there. This experience marked my life, and introduced me to the issues that I have worked on ever since – war, protection, humanitarian assistance and international justice.

I have worked at headquarters and in the field for IGOs and NGOs as well as for think tanks and Universities. I am currently Deputy Registrar at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, where I have previously worked for the prosecution, the judges and the defense.

I have lived in various usually war-torn countries for short periods of about a year, but in 1999, having met my future husband, I moved to the Netherlands and have made my life here. I love living in Amsterdam, and I have two wonderful bilingual English-Dutch daughters.
