Jessica Vazquez

Adjunct Professor at California State University-Sacramento

Biography

Originally from the Bay Area in Northern California, I received my undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkeley where I studied Sociology and Psychology. I then completed my postgraduate education at the University of Denver where I received a Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in psychotherapy, certification in trauma studies, with and global studies. My education at UC Berkeley developed my enduring passion for understanding how systems and our social lives influence our mental health. Sociology fostered an appreciation of diversity, equity, culture and the mechanisms for the importance of social change. My graduate work focused on psychotherapy with adolescents, families, and couples focusing on Adverse Childhood Experiences, Complex Trauma, and PTSD. Besides my personal practice, I'm currently a part-time faculty member at CSUS. I also serve as a Clinical Supervisor.
