Biography

Jennifer is the founder and sole proprietor of a Leadership Coaching, Consulting, and Training business, Deep Blue Consultancy. Her programs and services combine her leadership, coaching, and human resource experience to bring a relational leadership model to leaders and teams through her energy, persistence, and passion. She is a credentialed Professional Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation and an accredited Professional Co-Active Coach through the Coaches Training Institute with over 1,600 coaching hours. She is also a Faculty member with the American Management Association® delivering content in Managerial Coaching and Strategic Thinking, Development, and Execution. She custom designs and facilitates a variety of leadership workshops and seminars focusing on the development of the relational self and strategic planning. Finally, she has over 18 years teaching management and leadership courses at the under graduate, graduate, and Executive MBA level at numerous universities in the San Francisco Bay area. Her energy and confidence are founded in over 38 years as an accomplished leader in the U.S. Coast Guard, higher education, and sole proprietorship with a demonstrated ability to manage departments and organizations and deliver exceptional and on-time results. She has over 18 years of higher education experience, as a faculty member and administrator emphasizing leadership development, business administration, and human resources. She also has over 12 years’ experience in human resource management emphasizing promotions, retentions, terminations, job and organizational modeling, performance management, fair treatment and practices, and many other personnel policies and procedures. She has over ten years as a small business owner, blending executive and leadership coaching with leadership training and consulting. She is a recognized “people person” and “client success advocate” who always creates challenging and rewarding learning environments. Before beginning her own business, she spent five years as the Director of Leadership Development at The California Maritime Academy, a campus of California State University and three years as an Assistant Professor in the Marine Transportation Department. Before entering higher education, she had a successful background in strategic planning and achieving results with over 20 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard, culminating in her assignment as ship’s Commanding Officer. She spent over four years in human resource management and policy positions at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Additionally, she spent almost eight years in operational resource management, oversight, planning, and coordination positions in response to significant national and international issues. Not only has she commanded a military ship at sea, she also held a license of Master of Steam or Motor Vessels of Any Gross Tons upon Oceans. She was one of the first women to graduate from a military academy after graduating from the United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science. Additionally, she is a member of the Coast Guard Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame for Basketball and Volleyball. She also earned a Masters of Business Administration degree with Honors from Barry University of Miami, Florida.
