Janne Korhonen

Janne M. Korhonen (MSc (Tech), PhD) is a researcher and an author, who researches qualities, possibilities and limitations of different technologies in modern society.

Currently, he is working at Aalto University in the Recon project, which studies applications of blockchain technology. Prior to his research career, he was the founding partner in design and product development services at Seos Design.

Formerly founding partner at Seos Design.

Author (with Rauli Partanen) of two books about energy and the environment, Uhkapeli ilmastolla (in English, Climate Gamble) (2015) and Musta Hevonen (2016). Besides its original Finnish, Climate Gamble has been so far translated into English, French, Bulgarian, Czech, German and Polish.

Research

My research interests are diverse, as my overarching interest is how to create a better world for at least 99% of the world's population. So far I've researched energy and environmental issues, the role constraints and scarcities play in the development of new technologies, and the use of novel digital technologies in increasing societal trust - with side affairs into strategies extraterrestrial aliens might follow if they learn of humanity's existence. (Most probably they won't want to attack us.)

Currently, I'm writing about technology communities as religion-like value and belief communities, and preparing research into alternative organizational forms.
