Biography

Ian gained a BA Hons degree in Accounting and Finance at Nottingham Trent University. He has vast experience of over twenty years working as an accountant, both in the Profession (working for Ernst and Young for twelve years, reaching the status of Senior Manager) as well as in the Industry sector (including roles as Group Accountant, Finance Director and Company Secretary for a variety of companies).

Ian has been a CIMA qualified accountant since 1994, and gained Fellowship to the Institute in 2002. He has gained full time academic experience since 2008 (as well as being involved in teaching and corporate training during his time at Ernst and Young). He completed his PGCE in 2010. He joined the School for Business and Society shortly after this, and is a Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Accounting and Finance. Ian gained his PGCAP in 2012, and was accepted shortly after this to be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Ian delivers modules to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the area of accounting and finance. Ian also delivers corporate training to external clients on behalf of the University, mainly in the areas of accounting, finance, business risk and corporate governance.

Ian has previously been Director of Undergraduate Programmes and the Head of the Accounting and Finance Group during his time at the School for Business and Society. He now works on the project of gaining AACSB accreditation for the School.
