Biography

Dr Chan is a Specialist in Geriatric Medicine in Hong Kong SAR, China.

He is appointed as Clinical Associate Professor (Honorary) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor of The University of Hong Kong.

Dr Chan graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with Distinction in Anatomy and Certificate of Merit in Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. He initially specialised in Critical Care Medicine, with interest in Infectious Disease and Nephrology, before subsequently developing his role in Geriatric Medicine and Healthcare Administration. He trained at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, Poole Hospital, and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, focusing on ortho-geriatrics and peri-operative care of older people. Dr Chan was a Fellow in Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine (Gold Medal) of the Hong Kong College of Physicians.

He has particular interest in medical education, ethics, inter-specialty programme re-engineering. He was awarded Exemplary Teachers’ Awards twice for his contributions to undergraduate medical education in 2015 and 2018; and Merit Team Awards twice for his contributions to the Community Geriatric Service and Fragility Fracture Service Development in 2014 and 2016 Outstanding Staff and Teams Awards of the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong.

Dr. Chan is the author and editor of medical textbook for higher medical trainees and reviewer of various journals. He helped the set up and development of online education website.
