Hans Moonen

Hans splits his time between consulting and academia. At CGI he works as a logistical expert within the Transportation & Logistics sector. This is combined with a one day/week position at University of Twente. In both professions Hans’ focus is on smart logistics; our world needs sustainable solutions. Over the past twenty-two years, Hans always operated on the interplay between logistics, process change and innovative technologies. Before, Hans worked at enterprise software vendor BaaN, followed by Erasmus University, where he obtained his PhD degree. Hans perceives it a challenge to approach problems in an out-of-the-box manner. He has been a frequent participant and speaker at national and international conferences. He (co-)authored a series of publications, is a regular blogger (mainly at cginederland.nl/blog and logistiek.nl), and is often involved in business development or inspiration sessions with clients. In the past years at CGI, Hans has worked as an advisor to a range of companies, including Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Portbase, ProRail, Havenbedrijf Rotterdam (the Nextlogic program), DPD, PostNL, KLM, Schiphol, Cargonaut, CP Rail, Mexx, and SmartwayZ.NL. Hans was involved in the Nextlogic project since 2012, where he serves as the architect for the neutral integral planning solution. He worked within two EC projects: EURIDICE and iCargo. At the University of Twente Hans is involved in teaching, supervising students, and the assistant promotor to a PhD Candidate. Hans is furthermore regularly serving the EC as a projectreviewer and -evaluator. Over the years Hans was lucky enough to visit a range of interesting places. As a student, he spent two longer periods abroad, a 6 month internship in Quebec City, Canada, as well as a 2 month stay at UCLA in California. Hans lives near Utrecht, is married to Rinske, and together they are the proud parents of Pepeijn, Ties and Lieke. His spare time is mostly spent active: tennis, skiing, cycling, hiking, but Hans also enjoys a good book or a movie accompanied by a good glass of wine.
